Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour (300g)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (75g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups milk (320ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled (120g)

Topping Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (for the churro topping)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (120g)
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon spice

Chocolate Ganache

  • 1/2 cup chopped chocolate (90g)
  • 2 tablespoons cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry and Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla essence, and melted cooled butter until well combined.
  2. Create the Batter: Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until the mixture is smooth and lump-free, with a pourable consistency.
  3. Bake the Donuts: Spoon or pipe the batter into a DIY doughnut tin. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until the donuts are light golden. Allow them to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and removing foil.
  4. Prepare the Topping: While the donuts cool, melt 1/4 cup butter. In another bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon to make the churro topping.
  5. Make the Chocolate Ganache: Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a bain-marie. Stir in the cream until the ganache is shiny and thick.
  6. Assemble the Donuts: Brush each cooled donut with melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar to coat all sides. Dip the top halves of donuts in the chocolate ganache generously, then serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Ensure the melted butter for the batter is cooled to avoid cooking the eggs prematurely.
  • Use a silicone or non-stick donut pan for easy removal and perfect shape.
  • The chocolate ganache can be warmed slightly to maintain pourable consistency if it thickens too much before use.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; toppings are best added fresh before serving.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute butter and cream with plant-based alternatives.
