Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium if desired)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons teriyaki sauce

Main

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 pound shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Drizzle of sesame oil (optional)

Garnish

  • Green onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix sauces: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce and teriyaki sauce thoroughly. Set this mixture aside to use later as a glaze for the shrimp.
  2. Sauté garlic: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt completely. Then add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Cook shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with pepper to taste. Stir-fry the shrimp for 3-4 minutes or until they turn pink and are cooked through.
  4. Glaze shrimp: Pour the prepared soy-teriyaki sauce mixture over the shrimp. Toss everything together to coat the shrimp evenly in the glaze. Continue cooking for an additional 1 minute to allow the sauce to thicken slightly and cling to the shrimp.
  5. Drizzle oil: If desired, add a small drizzle of sesame oil over the shrimp for added flavor and aroma.
  6. Serve immediately: Transfer the shrimp to a serving dish, sprinkle with chopped green onions for garnish, and enjoy while hot.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you want to reduce the salt content.
  • If fresh garlic is not available, garlic powder can be substituted but fresh is preferred for best flavor.
  • Adjust the pepper seasoning according to your taste preference.
  • Serve with steamed rice or grilled vegetables to make a complete meal.
  • Be careful not to overcook the shrimp as they become rubbery when overdone.
