Instructions

  1. Step 1: Activate the Yeast – In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Step 2: Make the Dough – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Knead the Dough – Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Step 4: First Rise – Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Step 5: Shape the Baguettes – Divide dough, shape into mini baguettes, and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Step 6: Second Rise – Cover and let rise for 30 minutes while preheating the oven.
  7. Step 7: Add Egg Wash and Score – If using, brush baguettes with egg wash and score with slashes.
  8. Step 8: Bake – Bake at 425°F for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
