Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 4 medium apples
  • Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers

Candy Syrup

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • Food coloring (any colors of your choice)

Decoration

  • 1 bag of cotton candy (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to ensure the candy coating sticks well. Insert a lollipop stick or wooden skewer into the top center of each apple, making sure it is secure for easy handling.
  2. Make Candy Syrup: In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and light corn syrup. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves. Continue cooking until the mixture comes to a boil and reaches a syrupy consistency.
  3. Add Food Coloring: Remove the saucepan from heat once boiling. Add a few drops of your chosen food coloring into the syrup and stir gently to distribute the color evenly.
  4. Coat Apples: Allow the syrup to cool slightly for about one minute to avoid burning. Carefully dip each apple into the colored syrup, turning to fully coat the surface. Let excess syrup drip back into the pan.
  5. Cool and Set Apples: Place the candy-coated apples on parchment paper to cool and set completely. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes until the coating hardens and becomes crisp.
  6. Add Cotton Candy: Once the candy coating is firm, gently wrap a handful of colorful cotton candy around the top of each apple, near the stick, to add a whimsical and playful touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm apples for best results.
  • Be very careful when working with hot sugar syrup as it can cause severe burns.
  • If the syrup starts to harden while coating apples, reheat it gently over low heat.
  • Cotton candy will melt quickly if exposed to moisture—add it just before serving.
  • To vary the look, use different food coloring combinations or add edible glitter for extra sparkle.
