Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, washed and dried
  • 1 to 1.5 tbsp blueberry jam

Streusel Topping

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Make the Streusel Topping: Using a fork or your fingers, combine the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, salt, and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Mix until the mixture becomes crumbly and set it aside while you prepare the cookie dough.
  2. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside for the cookies.
  3. Make the Cookie Dough: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until the mixture is light and creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and well combined.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Gently mix in the all-purpose flour, corn starch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold in the fresh blueberries carefully to avoid breaking them and bleeding into the dough.
  5. Add Blueberry Jam Swirls: Drop small dollops of blueberry jam onto the cookie dough. Using a chopstick, knife, or small spatula, swirl the jam gently into the dough, keeping visible streaks for marbled effect but avoid overmixing.
  6. Form Cookies and Add Topping: Scoop out 8 equally sized balls of dough and place them spaced apart on the prepared baking sheet. Generously top each cookie with the prepared streusel mixture.
  7. Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 14 minutes until the cookies are set but still soft to the touch. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 15 to 20 minutes before handling to prevent breakage.

Notes

  • Ensure blueberries are dry before folding into the dough to prevent excess moisture and bleeding of color.
  • The streusel topping adds a wonderful crunchy texture and cinnamon flavor—don’t skip it.
  • Handle cookies gently after baking as they will be soft and delicate.
  • Use fresh or high-quality blueberry jam for best flavor swirls.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container and consume within 3 days for optimal freshness.
