Ingredients

Scale

Donuts:

  • 1 batch homemade donuts without the glaze*

Strawberry Frosting:

  • 5 large fresh strawberries (about 100g)
  • 1 and 3/4 cups (210g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon strawberry jam or preserves

Vanilla Frosting:

  • 3 Tablespoons (43g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (180g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 Tablespoons (45ml) milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 3/4 cup (135g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Tablespoons (43g) unsalted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Prepare Donuts: Prepare your homemade donuts following your preferred recipe and directions, omitting any glaze. Keep the donuts warm and set aside while you prepare the frostings.
  2. Strawberry Frosting: Puree the fresh strawberries in a food processor until smooth. In a medium bowl, whisk together the strawberry puree, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam or preserves until fully combined. The mixture will be thinner than other frostings. Dip each warm donut into the strawberry frosting two or three times to build up a nice coating, then optionally cover with sprinkles.
  3. Vanilla Frosting: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons (30ml) of milk, and salt until smooth. Whisk in the remaining 1 tablespoon (15ml) milk if you’d like a thinner glaze. Dip the warm donuts into the vanilla frosting, then optionally add sprinkles for decoration.
  4. Chocolate Frosting: Place the chocolate chips, butter, light corn syrup, and water in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second increments, stirring well after each, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Dip the warm donuts into the chocolate frosting and optionally add sprinkles while the glaze is still wet.

Notes

  • Use warm fried donuts without glaze for best frosting adhesion.
  • Sprinkles are optional but add festive texture and appearance.
  • Adjust milk quantity in vanilla frosting to reach preferred glaze consistency.
  • Microwave chocolate glaze carefully in short intervals to avoid scorching.
  • Strawberry frosting is thinner and requires multiple dips for a thicker coating.
