Ingredients

Scale

Vietnamese Coffee

  • 2 tablespoons Vietnamese ground coffee
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon hot water
  • Vietnamese phin filter

Yogurt Mixture

  • 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk

Additional

  • Crushed ice, as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Grounds: Add 2 tablespoons of Vietnamese ground coffee to the chamber of a Vietnamese phin filter and gently press down with the filter press. Place the phin over a clean glass.
  2. Bloom the Coffee: Pour 1 tablespoon of hot water into the phin chamber and let the coffee grounds swell and settle for 10-20 seconds. This step helps to release the full flavor of the coffee.
  3. Brew the Coffee: Add the remaining 1/4 cup of hot water to the chamber, cover it with the filter cap, and allow the coffee to slowly drip into the glass. This process typically takes a few minutes.
  4. Mix Yogurt and Condensed Milk: While the coffee is brewing, combine 1 1/2 cups of plain yogurt with 1/4 cup of sweetened condensed milk in a bowl. Mix gently to combine. Adjust sweetness by adding more condensed milk if desired.
  5. Assemble the Drink: Divide the yogurt mixture evenly between serving glasses. Once the coffee has finished dripping, pour it over the yogurt mixture.
  6. Add Crushed Ice and Serve: Top each glass generously with crushed ice. Serve immediately to enjoy the refreshing and rich flavors of Vietnamese Yogurt Coffee.

Notes

  • For authentic preparation, use a traditional Vietnamese phin filter to brew the coffee.
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the drink by varying the amount of sweetened condensed milk.
