Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Layers

  • 96 RITZ® Crackers (about 3 sleeves)
  • ½ lb thinly sliced deli ham
  • lb thinly sliced Swiss cheese

Butter Mixture

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sandwiches.
  2. Prepare Crackers and Ham: Place 24 RITZ Crackers flat side down in the bottom of a 13×9 inch baking dish. Repeat with another 24 crackers in a second 13×9 inch dish. Tear the deli ham into small strips by hand, then lay a lightly folded slice on each cracker in both dishes for an even distribution.
  3. Add Cheese and Top Crackers: Cut the Swiss cheese into 1-inch pieces. Place one piece of cheese on top of the ham on each cracker, then top each mini sandwich with another RITZ cracker, rounded side up, forming a little sandwich.
  4. Prepare Butter Sauce: Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 45 seconds. Whisk in the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and salt until fully combined.
  5. Coat Sandwiches: Pour the butter mixture evenly over the sandwiches in both baking dishes. Then sprinkle the poppy seeds and dried onion flakes evenly on top to add flavor and garnish.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dishes in the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the crackers are lightly golden brown, indicating they are toasted and warm.
  7. Serve Warm: Carefully transfer the mini sandwiches to a serving platter and serve while warm for the best taste and texture experience.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced deli ham and Swiss cheese for easy layering and melting.
  • The butter mixture can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to melt and drizzle.
  • For a crowd, double the recipe and use multiple baking dishes for quick baking.
  • Serve immediately after baking for best texture; leftovers can be reheated briefly in the oven to restore crispness.
  • Variations can include swapping Swiss cheese for cheddar or substituting ham for turkey or roast beef to suit your guests’ preferences.
