Oreo Cake Balls
- 24 Oreos
- 4 oz softened cream cheese
Coating
- 10 oz white candy melts (Ghirardelli brand recommended)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream (optional, only if candy melts need thinning)
- Mix Oreos and cream cheese: Place 24 whole Oreos into a food processor and blend on high speed until crushed into a coarse powder. Add 4 oz of softened cream cheese and pulse again until the mixture forms one smooth, uniform texture.
- Shape the cake balls: Remove the food processor blades and scrape any remaining mixture back inside. Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop out the mixture and roll into balls by hand. Set the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the candy melts: Melt 10 oz of white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval. Use up to 2 tablespoons of hot heavy cream only if the candy melts need to be thinned out. Ghirardelli candy melts usually do not require thinning.
- Dip the cake balls: Using a fork, dip each cake ball into the melted candy melts, ensuring they are coated evenly. Carefully place the dipped balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the coating to set completely.
- Decorate (optional): For extra decoration, drizzle melted semi-sweet chocolate over the cake balls or sprinkle crushed Oreos on top while the coating is still wet to ensure they stick.
Notes
- Use softened cream cheese for easier blending.
- Freeze the cake balls before dipping to prevent them from falling apart.
- Do not overheat the candy melts; melt gradually to avoid burning.
- If using other candy melts brands, add heavy cream to thin if necessary.
- Store finished cake balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
