Nutella Soufflés Recipe

4.4 from 141 reviews

These Nutella Soufflés are light, fluffy, and decadently chocolatey treats made with just eggs and Nutella. Using an air fryer allows for a gentle, even cooking that produces perfect soufflés with crisp tops and soft, slightly wobbly centers. Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar, they’re an elegant yet easy dessert to enjoy warm right from the ramekin.

Ingredients

Scale

Soufflé Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 170 g (generous ½ cup) Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • Optional: powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 140˚C (275˚F) to ensure a gentle, even bake that is essential for soufflés to rise properly.
  2. Separate the Eggs: Crack the eggs and carefully separate the whites from the yolks, placing them in two different bowls for the next steps.
  3. Whip the Egg Whites: Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. This aeration is crucial for the soufflé’s light, fluffy texture.
  4. Mix Nutella and Egg Yolks: Add the Nutella to the egg yolks and mix together with an electric mixer until fully combined. The mixture might look grainy, but this is normal.
  5. Fold in the Egg Whites: Gently fold one-third of the stiff egg whites into the Nutella and yolk mixture using a spatula. Repeat twice, folding carefully to retain as much air as possible for fluffiness.
  6. Fill the Ramekins: Evenly spoon the mixture into two greased ramekins, filling each about three-quarters full to allow space for rising.
  7. Air Fry the Soufflés: Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket and cook at 140˚C (275˚F) for 18 minutes. The soufflés should puff and become firm on top but remain slightly wobbly in the center.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Dust the tops lightly with powdered sugar and serve warm directly from the ramekins for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For best results, make sure to beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form; under-whipping will affect the rise.
  • Be gentle when folding egg whites to retain air and achieve the signature soufflé lightness.
  • Ramekins should be greased well to prevent sticking and aid in rising.
  • The soufflés are best enjoyed immediately as they will deflate upon cooling.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, baking at 190˚C (375˚F) or 170˚C (fan) for 18 minutes in a conventional oven works just as well.
