Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients required on the box, typically eggs, oil, and water)

Pudding Mixture

  • 6.6 oz white chocolate pudding mix (2 boxes)
  • 3 cups 2% milk
  • 1 large container cool whip (approximately 8 oz)
  • Green food coloring (neon or bright green, amount to desired color intensity)

Additional Ingredients

  • 20 Oreos (crushed)
  • Gummy worms (for decoration and layering, quantity as desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Follow the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box to bake the cake. Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely, then cut it into small cubes suitable for layering.
  2. Make the Pudding Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine both boxes of white chocolate pudding mix with 3 cups of 2% milk. Whisk until the pudding thickens. Gently fold in the entire container of Cool Whip until smooth and well combined. Add green food coloring to the pudding mixture and stir well until evenly colored. Set aside.
  3. Assemble the Trifle – First Layer: Spoon about one-quarter of the pudding and whipped cream mixture into the bottom of a trifle dish. Follow by adding one-third of the chocolate cake cubes evenly on top. Sprinkle one-third of the crushed Oreos over the cake layer, then scatter a few gummy worms for a creepy effect.
  4. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process by adding another one-quarter of the pudding mixture, followed by one-third of the cake cubes, a sprinkle of crushed Oreos, and a few more gummy worms. Continue layering until you have used up all the cake cubes and most of the pudding mixture.
  5. Top the Trifle: Finish by spreading the remaining pudding and whipped cream mixture evenly on top. Garnish with the remaining crushed Oreos and gummy worms for a festive Halloween look.
  6. Chill: Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and pudding to set.

Notes

  • Use any brand of white chocolate pudding mix you prefer.
  • If you want a more intense green color, add food coloring gradually until you reach the desired shade.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute cool whip and milk with non-dairy alternatives.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead for easier party prep.
  • To make the layers more distinct, gently press down the cake cubes before adding pudding.
