4.5 from 83 reviews

Deliciously flaky croissants stuffed with a creamy herb-infused cream cheese filling, topped with melty Gruyere cheese and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a savory breakfast treat or elegant snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissants

  • 8 croissants

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese (whipped)
  • 23 tbsp fresh chives (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp dried herbs of choice (parsley, oregano, tarragon)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Topping

  • Gruyere cheese (to taste, grated)
  • 12 tbsp butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a bowl, thoroughly mix the whipped cream cheese with fresh chives, dried herbs, salt, and pepper ensuring a smooth, evenly seasoned filling.
  2. Stuff the croissants: Transfer the cream cheese mixture into a piping bag for precise filling. Carefully insert the tip into each croissant and fill them evenly without tearing the delicate pastry.
  3. Apply butter and add cheese: Lightly brush the tops of the stuffed croissants with melted butter to help achieve a golden crust. Generously sprinkle grated Gruyere cheese over each croissant for a rich, savory topping.
  4. Bake to finish: Place the croissants on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the Gruyere is fully melted and slightly golden, and the croissants are warmed through.

Notes

  • Use fresh croissants for best texture and flavor.
  • You can substitute Gruyere with Swiss or mozzarella cheese if preferred.
  • Adjust herbs to your taste; fresh herbs can also be used instead of dried.
  • Ensure not to overfill the croissants to prevent them from breaking.
  • Serve warm for the best melty experience.
