For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup salted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 & 1/3 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp cotton candy extract
  • 2 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 drops pink and blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add egg and extract: Mix in the egg and cotton candy extract until well combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Mix wet and dry: Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until well combined.
  6. Divide dough: Divide the dough into 2 equal pieces.
  7. Add food coloring: Add pink food coloring to one piece and blue to the other, mixing well to incorporate the colors.
  8. Swirl the dough: Rip off parts of each colored dough and combine them to form a swirled effect.
  9. Form cookies: Scoop dough into 3 tbsp balls and place on a lined cookie sheet.
  10. Bake: Bake for 12 minutes at 350F until the cookies are just starting to brown on the bottom.
  11. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet before moving.

Notes

  • You can adjust the intensity of the colors by adding more or less food coloring.
