Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup original sour cream
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup Christmas sprinkles

Glaze:

  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Additional Christmas sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare oven and pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9×5 loaf pan with nonstick baking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, add wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and white sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then, mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until just combined. Add the sour cream and whole milk, beating until fully incorporated.
  3. Mix dry ingredients and combine: In a separate large bowl, whisk the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon together. Slowly add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined to avoid overmixing. Carefully fold in the Christmas sprinkles using a rubber spatula.
  4. Fill pan and bake: Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan, spreading to create a smooth, even top. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  5. Cool the bread: Remove the loaf from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Make the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and glaze-like in consistency.
  7. Glaze and decorate: Pour the glaze over the cooled bread, allowing it to drip down the sides. Immediately sprinkle additional Christmas sprinkles over the glaze to finish the festive look.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter once the dry ingredients are added to keep the bread tender.
  • Using a toothpick to check for doneness helps ensure the bread is completely baked without drying out.
  • Allow the bread to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting and running off.
  • Christmas sprinkles add a festive touch but can be substituted with any seasonal colored sprinkles.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
