Cheesy Taco Pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack combining seasoned ground beef, cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar cheese wrapped in flour tortillas, then air-fried to golden perfection. These savory pinwheels offer a flavorful twist on classic taco ingredients in a fun, bite-sized form perfect for parties or quick bites.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • ¼ cup water

Assembly

  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef: Heat a small skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, crumbling it as it cooks until fully cooked through.
  2. Season the beef: Drain excess grease from the skillet. Add ¼ cup of water and the taco seasoning to the beef. Stir and cook for 5-10 minutes until the water evaporates and the seasoning is well absorbed.
  3. Mix creamy ingredients: Transfer the seasoned beef to a bowl. Add cream cheese and sour cream, then mash together with a fork until fully combined. Taste and add salt if needed.
  4. Spread beef mixture: Divide the beef mixture evenly between the two tortillas. Spread it evenly out to the edges.
  5. Add cheese and roll: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over each tortilla. Roll each tortilla up tightly to form a log.
  6. Slice pinwheels: Use a sharp knife to trim off the edges of each tortilla roll, then cut each roll into 5 equal slices to make pinwheels.
  7. Air fry pinwheels: Arrange the pinwheels in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 370°F (188°C) for 5 minutes until the tortillas are crisp and golden.
  8. Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Use full-fat cream cheese for the best creamy texture.
  • You can substitute flour tortillas with whole wheat tortillas for a healthier option.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, bake the pinwheels on a baking sheet at 375°F for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to mix well with the beef.
